An exciting opportunity has arisen with a global port and terminal logistics company, who are looking for an established HSSE Advisor to support the business from a hands-on operational perspective in respect of HSSE. This position assists in the development and delivery of the company's Health, Safety, Security and Environmental Global Standards, to provide for a safe and secure business operation

HSSE Advisor Job Description:

• Assists in the development and delivery of the company's Health, Safety, Security and Environmental functions
• Assists in the implementation of HSSE policies, procedures and systems to provide for a safe and secure business operation.
• Provide support to the South African entities to ensure that relevant safety legislation and the provisions of the relevant South African Occupational Health and Safety Act are met
• Support the HSSE function in the development of goals, strategies and plans needed to achieve the HSSE strategy and build the capabilities to enable optimal delivery with input from relevant stakeholders more specifically operations
• Maintains up-to-date information and knowledge on new developments in the area of Safety, Health, Environment and Security
• Coach and support operational and management teams in HSSE matters and operational compliance
• Support in the development, monitoring and review of entire risk assessment process (assist operational teams with identifying hazards that could cause harm, support in the development and implementation

HSSE Advisor Job Requirements

Essential - if you do not fulfil these requirements, you will not be considered for the position:

• Must have an awareness of safety practices and procedures, including such things as risk management, accident investigation and reporting, hazardous materials standards, chemical protective standards, ergonomic hazards, and the like
• Must have extensive knowledge of fire prevention standards, emergency response methods, and personal protective equipment requirements.
• Ability to work under pressure and anticipate potential resource constraints and diagnose, evaluate and resolve such problems as they happen
• A results driven individual with a winning attitude
• Required to travel extensively
• Ensure projects are in line with the Global HSSE standards

Under general guidance of the South Africa HSSE Manager, this position represents the HSSE department and supports the entities in the implementation of global standards, better practices and compliance to local and national legislative requirements in order to ensure safe operations
