    Country Manager, Crop Protection

    Job description

    BASF South Africa, Crop Protection focuses on bringing sustainable solutions and long-term value to growers, industry and society alike. We believe in sustainable growth and prosperity for all.

    We are currently are seeking to appoint a Country Manager for our Crop Protection business in South Africa.

    The incumbent will be responsible tor the development and implementation of the strategy for the Crop Protection business within BASF South Africa.

    What you can expect

    The incumbent will be expected to:

    • Provide strategic direction, leadership and development to the country team
    • Act as an active member of the Agricultural Products (AP) management team for Africa and Middle East, and as discussion partner for Global AP organisation, as well as Regional Business Units.
    • Create a modern, positive management culture in the Country team.
    • Coach employees, optimize resource allocation in unit functions.
    • Market Approach Strategy: Efficient creation & implementation, ensures targets fixed for Market Share, sales, investments & personnel development.
    • Optimize performance by steering Key Performance Indicators.
    • Ensure proper preparation & right entrepreneurial mind-set.
    • Implement agreed targets into practice & ensures reflection in planning tools.
    • Ensure active information exchange internally.

    What we expect

    • University degree (agricultural or science-industrial), business administration education or a similar economics-based qualification would be an advantage
    • 5 years+ work experience in sales, marketing, business management.
    • Leadership experience and high-level communication and interpersonal skills / team player.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of MS office, Windows and Email systems.
    • English & Afrikaans language skills preferred.
