    Patient Educator

    Job description

    About The Department

    Novo Nordisk South Africa is looking to appoint an experienced Patient Educator who will be Changing possibilities for people living with diabetes, through patient education of the Novo Nordisk Diabetes products to selected targeted customers in the Kwa-Zulu Natal area in a manner that is consistent with operational requirements and upholding the Novo Nordisk Way.

    The base location of this Patient Educator will be in the Kwa-Zulu Natal area, in South Africa, and will report directly to the Senior Field Sales Manager of the Kwa-Zulu Natal Region.

    The position

    As a Patient Educator your key responsibilities will be to change the outcomes of people affected by the diseases that we are involved in, the success of which is measured by securing sales and business growth with patient education in the allocated territory. As a participating member of a high performing team you will be required to execute training of nursing staff and clinics effectively, efficiently and ethically and further establish consultative relationships with internal and external customers and patients. In addition you will be responsible for sourcing and communicating market information to the team.

    Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will be a registered Nurse with a professional qualification in Nursing. Previous experience as a Patient Educator will be considered an advantage. The candidate needs to further demonstrate a good understanding and knowledge of insulin and insulin regimes in Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and good command of English is required; Computer skills (Excel, Word, Power Point).

    The ideal candidate will also demonstrate an ability and passion to influence from patient centred approach; strong attention to quality and detail; good planning and organisational skills and the agility and willingness to quickly adjust to new situations in a continuously developing environment; ability to engage people with different backgrounds and work within a diverse environment. We are looking for a dynamic high-performer with a strong performance-driven track record who is highly engaged. Additional skills include good decision making and problem-solving skills and excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills and the ability to negotiate. The candidate should also ideally demonstrate a willingness to collaborate with stakeholders and drive their own personal development.
