    Consulting - Quality & Risk Management - Quality & Risk Manager

    Job description

    This role is specifically in our Technology consulting business, and we are looking for a candidate with strong Technology experience who is interested in expanding his/her career into risk management within a Technical environment.

    This is a multi-dimensional role with a number of focus areas including risk process and integration, risk management, quality management, process compliance, as well as an element of legal and contracting.

    Strategic Impact

    Supports the implementation of strategy of the Service Line / Business Area

    Implements the strategy within area of responsibility by conforming to plans set by leadership in all engagements/projects including:

    • Revenue targets
      • Talent management
      • Communication to teams
      • Tracking of plans in engagements/projects
      • Actively identifies sales opportunities in broader market
      • Contributes to preparation of proposals/tenders and presentations
      • Participates in sales presentations and client negotiation teams for new and retained business
      • Grows market network with key players and builds long-term relationships
      • Builds relationships across Deloitte service lines for cross-selling opportunities and combined engagement pursuits
      • Identifies innovative solutions on projects / engagements to enhance / renew service offerings to client
    • Client Impact: External / Internal
      • Maintains high level oversight of client engagements
      • Forms appropriate judgements based on careful analysis to makes sound business decisions on engagements
      • Develops productive, credible and trusting relationships with key players and their teams during assignments
      • Builds a network of senior-level internal relationships across Deloitte to understand other business unit offerings and to market own area
      • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with external business leaders across industries
      • Contributes to thought leadership and shares knowledge and expertise with clients, colleagues and teams
    • Operational Effectiveness
      • Communicates detail of SLA’s to teams and maintains high level monitoring of adherence by all parties
      • Manages engagement/project risk through supervision of completion of required documentation and processes as mandated by RIL, as well as risk to client confidentiality
      • Leads / manages complex client engagements and maintains high level oversight of all engagements / projects within sphere of responsibility
      • Meets regularly with clients and teams to understand issues, anticipate needs and address these
      • Consistently drives improvement on deliverables through effective leadership
      • Keeps SL/BU leadership updated on status of all assignments
      • Communicates need for any changes in engagement / project plan to relevant leadership and obtains agreement for relevant amendments
      • Provides ongoing communication to teams on status of engagement / project, changes, achievements, etc.
    • Development/Growth of Team
      • Mentors and develops team members and counselees on an ongoing basis
      • Empowers managers through appropriate delegation of work
      • Develops close working relationships with key talent
      • Maintains dynamic succession plans for every critical resource, depending on the profile / need expertise
      • Maintains own development and knowledge in specialised area and business
      • Demonstrates commitment to transformation agenda of the firm
      • Provides consistent recognition and encouragement to teams and leads by example
    • Budgets / Profitability
      • Resources engagement teams with suitable talent, balancing correct levels and numbers and recruiting as necessary
      • Manages margins effectively through accurate budgeting, pricing and profitability management on engagements
      • Monitors that time and expenses to engagements are recorded and submitted weekly
      • Oversees WIP on projects / engagements and ensures billings are timeously done and collections followed up
      • To succeed in this role, you must be a dynamic individual with highly developed interpersonal skills. In addition, you must possess the following:
      • A general curiosity and broad understanding of the world, and an interest in business affairs and human behaviour, to be able to understand where risk might come from and how it can be dealt with, and to learn from how others have dealt with it.

      • Good understanding of the principles of risk management and the ability to develop and present risk views with appropriate mitigation strategies.
      • Good understanding of the principles of quality management and the ability to apply these in a practical manner.
      • Solid numeracy and financial skills.
      • Able to conduct meetings and workshops, and deliver presentations skillfully.
      • Self-motivated, high energy levels; enthusiastic, committed, dynamic and driven.
      • Ability to work with minimal guidance in a highly motivated and dynamic team.

    About You

    • Relevant tertiary qualification - a commercial/business or legal qualification would be an advantage.
    • Technology project experience, preferably including systems development, systems integration, and the implementation of large-scale systems incl. ERP.
    • Hands-on risk management experience and a good understanding of risk management in a professional services environment and the application of risk management methodologies.
    • Quality management experience in a professional services environment.
    • Working experience in enterprise risk management, contract management and legal risk management in a corporate environment.
    • Management consulting and/or project management experience - previous work experience in any of the following areas would be useful:
    • Technology business/projects
    • Outsourcing business/projects
    • General management consulting business/projects
    • High computer literacy, with solid working experience in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

    • Experienced in communication and implementation of strategy
    • Proven ability to manage and execute projects
    • Experienced in development and delivery of professional presentations

    • Demonstrated ability to influence senior managers
    • Excellent communication and analytical skills are essential as this position is accountable for developing practical, profitable pricing strategies
    • Must have the ability to set priorities, manage a diversity of job responsibilities with effective organizational skills, and work within deadlines.
    • Ability to look beyond the short term and demonstrate the viability of long-term strategies
    • Driven by the desire to pursue a long-term career helping provide customer solutions and pricing strategies
    • Strategic thinker with strong business analytic skills sets including a high proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Visual Basic
    • Demonstrated ability to multitask and set priorities
