Company profile

Our client owns microfinance entities in Zambia, Tanzania and Malawi. The group is focused on consumer loans to formally employed salary earners, serving over 15,000 customers monthly. The group does not take deposits, and is a specialised lender.

The successful candidate will be required to create a business analytics department to service the operating entities based in Zambia, Tanzania and Malawi.

Responsibilities will include:

• Developing credit score cards for underlying operating entities
• Assessing and analysing monthly risk performance across the group
• Developing profit and pricing models for new and existing products
• Leading forensic investigations to identify fraud or bad debt clusters
• Applying machine learning technology to the credit modelling
• Pioneering the Company’s transformation towards a more data-driven business model

Candidate profile:

• Degree in statistics, mathematics, or engineering
• Advanced knowledge of SAS and Excel
• 3-5 years’ work experience preferred
• Experience in the financial industry desired
• Passion for Africa and willingness to travel in the developing world

Location

Position will be based in Cape Town, City Bowl, for the first year, then the office will move to Stellenbosch.
