The G Band Manager: Infrastructure Planning is based within Network job family

The role of the Manager: Infrastructure Planning is to plan and implement IP MPLS infrastructure in the Core transmission network.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Manage IP MPLS team to and ensure alignment and delivery of Vodacom’s technology strategy, policies and objectives.
• Research, evaluate, formulate and implementation of the IP MPLS technology strategy.
• Develop planning guidelines and manage the implementation thereof.
• Core IP MPLS Traffic modelling
• Manage alignment between supplier roadmaps and Vodacom requirements.
• Arrange periodic Management meetings with suppliers to obtain the latest product updates and trends in the field of IP - MPLS
• Engage with the RAN/EBU/CBU/Transmission Assurance and Transmission Access engineering teams to understand and deliver on their IP MPLS transport network requirements.
• Manage the setting of quality standards and procedures against world best practice benchmarks and the management of these processes
• Manage the compilation of strategic and operational documentation in relation to the field of IP - MPLS that will inform planning internal planning guidelines and masterplans.
• Make key Management decisions based on technical recommendations based on technology trends and evolving network architectures in the field of IP - MPLS
• Conduct network audits, identify risks/non-conformances, formulate and implement remedial plans.
• Formulate network disaster recovery plans and manage recovery procedure.
• Conduct and manage due diligence and M&A activities on behalf of the Transmission department.
• Manage the development of business cases and business models where required that support business imperatives such as operational efficiencies in terms of CAPEX and OPEX spend
• Present to internal and external technology forum.
• Manage the compilation of the HLD and LLD for the transmission network.
• Engage with Assurance, Regional Operations and NMG Network Performance teams to understand and address network concerns.

The Ideal Candidate For This Role Will Have

• Matric/Grade 12 (or SAQA accredited equivalent).
• A national diploma is a minimum requirement.
• A 4 year engineering degree/BSC degree is preferred.
• A minimum of 10 years ‘experience in the Telecommunications Transmission industry.
• Must be appointed for a minimum of 3 years in a technical management position.

In addition to the details listed above, the ideal candidate will have an in depth knowledge and understanding:

• CAPEX budget formulation.
• OPEX budget formulation.
• Cost efficiency – investigate ways to reduce costs.

The base location for this role is Midrand, Renaissance Park
