Job description

The incumbent will assume the position of Structural Design Engineer, who will be responsible for ensuring oversight on engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Sign-off on engineering designs
• Inception of new projects and proposal to start the expertise
• Feasibility study of the new project and design proposals.
• Inspection of sites to detect potential issues and challenges that may arise to the construction of our supporting structures.
• Solution designs of site issues and challenges through technical drawings and reports.
• Design development of formworks to construct concrete structures with reference to the structural drawings
• Proposal of effective solutions on the material to be used: this determines the required steel section sizes and adequate connection types.
• Conduct meeting with third party design engineers to confirm the adequacy of the Pre-form internal formwork designs
• Analyze and validate designs done by other engineers
• Compile technical design reports
• Liaise with clients and use problem solving skills to maintain a healthy relationship
• Maintain technical and professional knowledge though continuing education, remaining current with relevant professional publications, establishing professional networks and participating in professional societies through professional engineering bodies, council or board recognized by SAQA
• Support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedings
• Assist in training and development of technicians and other staff members
• Actively seek and acquire new business opportunities
• Generate proposals for business development
• Perform relevant administrative project requirements including client communications

Minimum Qualifications

• B.Sc / B.Tech Structural / Civil Engineering Degree
• Pr.Eng (Not Negotiable)
