    Junior Analyst, Mergers & Acquisition

    Job description

    (A starting annual total cost to company package of R 535 900.52 negotiable commensurate with experience).

    Please note these vacancies are on a 5 year fixed-term contract.

    Minimum Requirements

    An LLB, preferably an Admitted Attorney, with 1 - 2 years post articles experience and exposure in a legal environment.

    OR

    • BCom (Hons) in Economics – preferably a Master’s Degree in Economics with 2 years working Experience in an analytical environment.
    • Strategic thinker with strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to exercise sound judgment.
    • Understanding and interest in competition law matters.
    • Prior Experience and exposure to competition law/ economic analysis will be an added advantage.

    Key Responsibilities

    • The investigation, research and analysis of the competitive effects of mergers in terms of Chapter 3 of the Competition Act.
    • Writing of reports on mergers and liaison with merging parties and other interested parties.
    • Representation of merger investigation findings to the decision-makers in the Competition Commission and the Competition Tribunal.
    • To assist with administration, policy development and strategic planning and implementation in the Competition Commission.
    • The monitoring of mergers conditionally approved by the Competition Commission.

    • Be a results oriented self-starter.
    • An energetic, committed individual.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • The ability to pro-actively interact with management, team members, external stakeholders and function well within a team.
    • The ability to handle multiple tasks in both individual and team environments.
    • Analytical with attention to detail.
