Procurement Buyer - Ingredients & Packaging at McCormick & Company

Based: Midrand, Republic of South Africa

Due to our constant growth we are looking for an Ingredients & Packaging buyer to join our business. The selected Candidate will implement tactical activity and projects as defined by the Procurement Manager. The person joining us will drive Innovation agenda, build stakeholder advocacy and look for opportunities for greater procurement engagement & participation.

Main Tasks:

• Responsible for a portfolio of $5-$7.5m Ingredients / Packaging.
• Daily contact with the procurement team and quarterly NPD statistics prepared for sharing with the team.
• Defining measures of stakeholder engagement and participation for innovation activities.
• Develop own functional competencies in line with business requirements, and establish a knowledge of category management and strategic purchasing tools.
• Identifying and proposing improvement and cost reduction opportunities.
• Identify and propose CCI opportunities for approval that reduce cost, mitigate risk, secure contingency and create end to end value, and execute against the approved projects
• Actively participating in a range of cross-functional projects as required within in connection with spend managed and NPD activities.
• Monitoring reporting tools, communicating progress regularly against KPIs

Candidate Profile:

• Good academic background ideally in business related topics.
• Evidence of professional development. Understanding of commercial drivers and economics ideally in FMCG.
• Excellent English skills.
• Concise and fact based communication.
• Inquisitive mind set, continually looks for alternative solutions and is comfortable with ‘outside the box’ concepts and ideas
• Efficient, results orientated, able to manage multiple projects at the same time.
• Team player able to build confidence and credibility within the wider organisation.
