    Transactor: Real Estate Investment Banking

    Job description

    Responsibilities:

    • Initiation and evaluation of transactions by having:
      • deep understanding of both the domestic real estate markets with a focus on the Western Cape;
      • Acute understanding of the needs of clients and potential clients;
      • Strong people skills;
      • Structure and close transactions by actively participating in the successful conclusion of negotiations;
    • Understand, analyse and assess the value proposition in any given transaction;
    • Analyse financial statements and the real estate market and construct and analyse project related cash flows;
    • Add value to transactions for the benefit of the client through in depth knowledge of the real estate market, capital structure and asset class;
    • Make transactions bankable by identifying and mitigating key asset and credit risk issues;
    • Engaging with the credit teams, assist in preparing credit submissions and presenting transactions to the credit committee;
    • Assist in the implementation of transactions by preparing or managing the preparation of term sheets and complex legal agreements;
    • Build relationships for Real Estate Investment Banking by actively marketing divisional services and building and maintaining relationships with clients and potential clients.

    Requirements:

     

    • The successful candidate must have a commercial qualification with an exceptional academic track record. CA (SA), Business Science, CFA or other quantitative qualifications preferable.
    • A min of 3 to 5 years investment banking experience preferable.
    • EE preference.

     

    Experience:

    • Investment banking deal origination, structuring and evaluation experience;
    • Strong analytical skills and sound understanding of the capital structure;
    • Excellent financial literacy, including a sound knowledge of financial instruments specifically in respect of the real estate asset class;
    • Good understanding of capital structure and how it can be applied to the real estate asset class and associated risk parameters;
    • An awareness of the real estate market and realities affecting the market;
    • Good marketing skills;
    • Excellent report writing skills; and
    • A high degree of commercial acumen.
