    Process Analyst

    Job description

    British American Tobacco is currently recruiting for a Process Analyst to join our great team based in Heidelberg, South Africa.

    The main purpose of the role is to manage the Primary Production Line process and peripheral processes related to continuously ensure low factory tobacco waste and a consistent high quality product for cigarette manufacturing at the lowest cost.

    Knowledge & Skills

    • Analyse, monitor and evaluate quality and waste variables related primarily to the Primary Manufacturing Department (PMD) process including the Secondary Management Department (SMD) process to consistently maintain high quality products and a high factory yield.
    • Develop and research product and process technology to continuously improve the PMD process and subsequent systems.
    • Up-keeping quality results and calibrations of on-line quality measuring equipment with regards to the PMD process to ensure reliable and correct feedback to relevant parties.
    • Troubleshooting with regards to product quality, process deviations and market complaints to ensure correct feedback for corrective actions.
    • To take corrective actions with regards to process, product and incoming material deviations to continuously ensure a consistent and high quality product.
    • Develop quality related PMD process guidelines and sampling procedures to ensure that the tobacco quality system correlates with the final product quality system.
    • Lead ISO, and PI&T audits to ensure compliance to set standards, and drive completion of QA action plans.
    • Apply effective HR practices (e.g. performance evaluations, -feedback, disciplinary procedures, appointments, promotions, transfers, training & development etc.) according to prescribed policies and procedures to ensure performance improvement and sound employee relations.
    • Assist with compilation of the PMD Budget.
    • Apply EHS activities according to prescribed policies and procedures to enhance a safe working environment.
    • Manage and execute relevant administrative activities in the department to ensure the availability of resources, continuous flow of information and updated records.
    • Communicate effectively cross-functional and within the department to keep all stakeholders informed, address and seek solutions for problems of mutual interest and continuous improvement.
    • Particpate in projects on process and product development/research.
    • Completion of identified training and development according to plan.

    Knowledge/Qualifications

    • National Diploma (Technical/electro Technical)
    • Matric (Maths and science)
