Job description

The ideal candidate for this role will examine and analyse current protocols and be responsible to align, implement and control physical tasks with WMS systems capability and functionality to optimize WMS solutions and minimize risk in operational execution

Key Performance Areas (KPAs)

Management and implementation of the WMS

• Enhance inventory integrity through detailed understanding of WMS functionality and conduct daily audits on users execution vs intended use to ensure compliance adherence
• Conduct daily audits on WMS transactions to ensure system behavior is as intended
• Optimize systems transactions by identifying shortfalls and or problem areas
• Provide detail on WMS for trainings material through exceptional knowledge around WMS navigation and use
• Ensure system process are executed as per design and instruction i.e. cycle counts, adjustment approval

Inventory

• Conduct daily reconciliation of physical stock executions vs system transactional postings and identification of data integrity issues
• Optimize warehouse operations through detailed management of virtual areas in accordance with physical layout of the warehouse and ensure systems integrity is enhanced by purging obsolete data relevant to areas that are no longer in use
• Review and analyse systems walk orders to identify opportunities to enhance productivities
• Reduce order cycles through optimized stock placements by ABC analysis against inbounds schedule and catalogues review
• Provide slotting plans for A category stock in order to minimize handling as well as walk orders for picking
• Conduct analysis on stock to identify opportunities to improve warehouse operations through correct placement and movement according to stock classification
• Provide plans around redundant stock to ensure optimal space use in warehouse
• Ensure space allocation of WMS is sufficient to cope with projected stock flows
• Develop, implement, enforce and evaluate policies and procedures in alignment with the WMS environment

Requirements

Qualifications & Accreditations

Relevant qualification in logistics and/or warehousing

Experience & Skills

• Minimum of 2 years’ operational experience in the warehousing industry
• Exceptional WMS experience and knowledge
• Systems “savvy” with ability to “scratch” below the surface to ensure/manage systems and data integrity
• WMS implementation and optimization through operational alignment
• Proven industrial relations skills
• In depth knowledge and understanding of warehouse / distribution and inbound / outbound logistics
• MS Office with advance Excel skills
• Understanding and/or experience of a warehouse management systems
• Experience in a retail environment will be an added advantage
