    Bookkeeper

    Job description

    The position requires a confident, hardworking individual who has the ability to lead initiatives on their own. The individual must have good communication skills and be able to work with a high level of professionalism and accuracy. The Junior Bookkeeper will report to the Bookkeeper and Management Accountant in the finance department. Please note that this is a junior position.

    Key Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Day-to-day functions required in the accounting administration
    • Sales and purchase invoice entry
    • Bank processing and reconciliation
    • Generating purchase orders
    • Generating payment requisitions
    • Assist with other administrative tasks as required
    • Raising sales invoices after due diligence
    • Entering accounts payable bills
    • Maintaining a clean set of books with debtors and creditors
    • Liaising with customers and debt collection
    • Liaising with suppliers and reconciling creditor accounts to statements
    • Updating stock unit prices and informing Buying/Engineering Dept of variances
    • Taking complete ownership of debtors and creditors books and reporting on their status to the Financial Controller for cash flow planning
    • General filing and administration
    • Performing all petty cash and credit card administration
    • Adhere to monthly deadline schedule for reporting to the shareholders and partner institution
    • Perform reconciliations and analysis in Excel when requested
    • Other aspects of the accounting and general administrative functions
    • Assist in reception as and when needed
    • Any other task that management may reasonably assign to you

     Qualifications and Experience

    • Grade 12 or equivalent SAQA approved qualification
    • Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience OR
    • Relevant tertiary qualification with 1 to 2 years relevant work experience
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programmes
