Assistant Divisional Engineer: Environment Instrumentation at Sappi

Job description

Sappi Saiccor based in Umkomaas requires a suitably qualified Assistant Divisional Engineer: Environment Instrumentation to provide  high level technical support to the instrument department, specifically relating to environment instrumentation. Assist the Area Engineer with coordination of all resources to ensure maximum availability and optimum efficiencies on a daily bases of the environmental Instrumentation.

• Ensure all the environmental ambient monitoring outstations are maintained and fully functional.
• Daily meeting with team to plan, manage workload and delegate work
• Filling in calibration and check sheets for the outstations neatly and correctly. Upgrading.
• Ensures that all modifications/projects conform fully to Mill Change Management Procedures, Mill Standard Specifications, Mill Safety Standards and the OHS Act.
• Optimisation of plant performance and control characteristics to maintain high plant availability.
• Ensure team compliance with SHEQ policies and procedure.
• Fault-finding malfunctions of field devices and system components with the aid of loop diagrams and test equipment.
• Install, maintain , repair , overhaul and calibrate a wide variety of industrial process/ environmental instrument.
• Ability to function in specialist areas such as Environmental monitoring.
• Carry out similar tasks when assigned by area engineers.
• Providing high level of technical support, to the maintenance section including operations in as far as troubleshooting is concerned.
• Provides on-going training to personnel to perform specific tasks on new equipment, completed projects and maintenance of equipment.
• Manages varied multi-disciplinary plant modifications/project work from concept to commissioning and close out.
• Makes use of mostly external (contractor) resources, and draws up enquiry and specification documents as required.
• Proper budget management in line with project time line management.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE 

• B-Tech coupled with 3 years’ experience  or S4 National Diploma in Instrumentation with 5 years’ experience OR N6 instrumentation with 5 years’ industrial experience.
• Supervisory experience will be advantageous.
• Computer Literate (MS Office) and SAP proficient.
• Project Management Experience
• DCS / Profi- bus knowledge and experience.
