Scope Of Responsibilities

General mechanical maintenance and overhauls of equipment and the plant.

Key Focus Areas

Key Focus Areas

• To maintain equipment in good operational condition to ensure 98% availability and install all process machinery.
• Safety: Work to McCain Safety and Food Safety requirements
• Quality: Maintain equipment to meet and exceed Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) requirements
• Cost: Draw and record spares and breakdown details through SAP
• Cost: Update and review critical spares requirements and report to Maintenance Superintendent
• Implement cost reduction / efficiency measures on all resources - water, electricity, steam and air
• Ensure quality control on all work done during general running plant equipment outages+
• Inspection of plant equipment
• Conduct technical investigations
• Fault finding on mechanical equipment
• Comply to safety standards/codes and ensure world class housekeeping
• Identify all unsafe conditions and notify management

Prior Learning And / Experience Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Qualified Artisan with a valid Trade Test Certificate (Fitter)
• Drivers license and own transport
• Knowledge and experience in the overhauling of pumps, harvesting equipment, conveying equipment, pneumatics and hydraulics.
• Minimum 3 Years General Fitting Experience.
• At least 3 years’ experience in an FMCG environment.
• Experience in the Food Industry would be advantageous.
• Computer Literacy – especially SAP
• Hands-on person with excellent problem solving skills
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Planning, organizing and co-ordination skills
• Able to work independently, in a cold environment and work under pressure
• Be a team player, motivated self-starter and willing to learn
• Sense of ownership
• Flexible - Must be willing to do standby duties, work overtime and shifts when required
