Job Purpose

The Junior Development Manager – Software Development contributes to the organisational goals by co-ordinating and prioritizing IT Systems Development tasks through the effective deployment of resources and efficient workload allocation ensuring that Business IT Systems requirements are sufficiently developed and adhered to.

Job Objectives/Outputs

• To ensure that Business IT systems are built and enhanced according to design within area of responsibility on an on-going basis.
• To identify areas of focus to improve overall IT system quality within area of responsibility
• To implement changes to existing IT systems functions within area of responsibility
• To create and provide accurate development effort estimates and ensures timely delivery against agreed deadlines.
• To generate regular feedback on IT system development progress and IT staff efficiency within area of responsibility
• To build and effectively maintain relationships with relevant business and IT representatives on an on-going basis.
• Responsible for all aspects of general staff management, succession planning, and development ensuring the right people are in place to support service delivery, achieving production and performance targets at all times.
• Deliver the Telesure Service Way through personal effort and through managers.

Level of Education

• Grade 12 with University Entrance (NQF4)
• Recognized degree or Diploma
• Agile certification would be desirable

Experience Required:

• Adequate System Development experience using the relevant programming language or technologies
• Adequate people management exposure within a corporate environment.

Desirable:

• Previous experience in Insurance environment
• One should have knowledge of:
• Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle procedure
• Understanding of relevant Business Unit's operating model
• Understanding of people management principles and procedures.
