    Plant Manager Amcor Flexibles Durban

    Job description

    The CHALLENGE

    We are looking for the Plant Manager for our Durban site, reporting to the Managing Director for Sub-Saharan Africa. The scope of the role is to co-ordinate the operations of the manufacturing site with app 400 FTEs and revenue of €45M as well as the Origination Centre with app 40 FTEs.

    WHAT WE OFFER

    • Establish and live a zero accident mentality and focus on all aspects of OHSE
    • Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations and the control of risks.
    • Set objectives for the Business, the departments and teams. Develop budgets and ensure departments adhere to them
    • Deliver budgeted KPIs (e.g. PBIT, RCFR, DIFOTIS, Working Capital)
    • Apply strategic planning to determine company financial and other objectives and long term goals, in accordance with BG strategy
    • Ensure high customer satisfaction. Maintain and improve processes related to exceeding customer lead-time, quality and delivery expectations
    • Develop staff to maximize potential. Set employee goals and objectives. Monitor staff performance including performance reviews. Recognize, coach and develop high potentials
    • Determine staffing requirements. Hire, train, and terminate co-workers as needed
    • Handle employee relations, directly, as well as with local Union
    • Drive actively Outperformance Culture and action plans
    • Promote company's mission and values internally and externally
    • Periodically review performance data (financial and activity reports) to monitor and measure profitability, productivity, goal progress and activity levels
    • Work in close relationship with the sales team to position plant to attract and grow profitable business
    • Initiate and participate in cross functional teams to commercialize innovations and R&D projects and to reinforce business with profitable growth accounts
    • Cultivate an organizational culture of continuous improvement with focus on the development of organizational and employee Continuous Improvement (CI) skills and the utilization of various C.I. tools to grow sales, reduce cost, increase throughput, improve quality, reduce inventory, and facilitate general positive change
    • Continuously challenge the plant costs, processes and capabilities in order to get the maximum in term of cost, service and flexibility
    • Work closely with the Procurement Team to reduce the total cost of ownership for all purchased goods and services
    • Maintain all assets in good conditions, prepare capital expenditure cases to invest in new technologies/processes that respond to identified market needs and support cost competitiveness
    • Report performance in a clear, concise, timely and professional manner to BU

    WHAT YOU BRING

    • University degree. MBA is an advantage
    • Minimum 10 years in progressive roles in a manufacturing environment
    • Minimum 5 years in a senior operational leadership role of manufacturing operations in B2B markets
    • Experienced working with Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing tools and processes
    • Track record of successful and fast NBO (New Business Opportunity) on boarding and product qualification in highly regulated markets
    • Experienced in budgeting, income statement, and variance analysis
    • Experience in Project management is an advantage
    • Ability to work successfully in a matrix organisation
    • Result oriented and target driven
    • Sound leadership skills – make each other successful / A “Leader”
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, additional languages are a plus
    • Strong negotiation, influencing, people management and decision making skills
    • Customer focused – good business acumen and commercial approach
    • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
    • Comprehensive Continuous Improvement skill set
