    Job description

    Live Presenter for RockingFuture Career Expo’s

    3RC presenters entertain and inform our audience of matric students at regional expos. They act as the public face for 3RC at the schools where the expos are hosted. They are the center point for the expo responsible for keeping it flowing at the appropriate pace, introducing and interviewing clients, and for providing links between segments that hold the expo together.

    The presenter's look, personality and presenting style are all important parts of their trade and we understand that presenters will develop their own unique styles of delivery throughout their careers, but you will be required to work according to the image, manner and tone dictated by 3RC. It is very important for this specific opportunity to be able to put Selfpromotion on hold. The arena is educational and the image portrayed is that of 3RC not personal endeavors.

    We require our presenters to have a solid understanding of their target audience, and what they expect, knowing what is happening in the youth scene is a vital part of the role.

    We expect our presenters to be well read and informed on what is happening in the world and how to incorporate that into their daily performances.

    This role will require you to be the master of many hats. Professional and respectful to our clients – Tertiary Institutions and their representatives as well as the teachers and head masters you interact with daily. Young and Hip in front of the students and efficient, resourceful, humble and co-operative in the team that you are placed.

    Job description Work activities

    • Travelling to schools and being part of the team to set up the expo.
    • Driving company vehicles and being responsible for company promotional goods, sound gear and client collateral.
    • Knowing all exhibitors and their representatives by name to create a warm and professional atmosphere
    • Planning, researching and writing their own link scripts regarding our clients before the expo’s start.
    • Acting as the host, introduce and interviewing clients. Interact with the audience.
    • Delivering information to the audience in a manner appropriate to their age and surroundings.
    • Following detailed instructions from the production team in order to keep everything to schedule.
    • Keep to timeline provided and not deviating from the given script and show layout.
    • Learning a script or sometimes performing without formal preparation and being able to improvise when things do not go according to plan, ex. Power cut or medical emergency.
    • Reacting quickly and positively and professionally to any problems or changes.
    • Handling administrative duties daily during and after the expo together with the admin team.
    • Being available for PR opportunities – Radio interviews, TV interviews, News Paper Interviews.

    Work conditions

    You will be required to travel daily to and from schools across SA. Working hours are irregular as some mornings might require a 5am or earlier call time and others only at 7am depending on travel time and traffic. Most afternoons the team will be done by 4:30pm.

    The inland team will always meet at our office in Greenside, JHB and travel to the school from there.

    If chosen for the Coastal team you will be required to be away from Gauteng for weeks at a time. All accommodation is paid in this situation and a daily per diem is also allowed. The coastal team will however have a shorter contract.

    Entry requirements and training

    Specific degree subjects required

    Open to non-graduates and graduates of any discipline.

    Postgraduate study

    A pre-entry postgraduate qualification is not a requirement.

    Specific entry requirements

    Specialist knowledge of particular topics may also be required.

    Contract Time period & Payment Arrangement

    Compulsory Training:

    Personal Coaching 4 x ½ days @ R125

    Show Training: 3 x full days @ R250

    Administrative training 1 full day @R125

    Live Show Training: 5 x full day @ R500 (2 shows per day)

    Each person will be selected for either the blue team (Port Elizabeth, Cape Town, Bloemfontein, KZN and Polokwane) or the Orange Team (Johannesburg, Pretoria and the East Rand)

    Each region has different number of schools to do.

    Schools/shows – Payment per show completed: R350

    We aim to do the amount of shows listed below.

    We also aim to overbook by 10% so more shows than these can be expected.

    *You will also have the opportunity to earn an extra R2000 bonus per month for faultless execution of tasks.

    Orange Team (148 shows)

    • Pretoria = 40 shows
    • Johannesburg = 68 shows
    • East Rand = 40 shows

    The orange team will use the 3RC office as base. They will travel daily.

    While doing the Pretoria region they will stay in accommodation and be given a Per Diem of R150 daily while away from home.

    They will also receive a R250 travel fee for the Sundays that they have to drive to Pretoria.

    This contract is worth approximately R61 170.00 for 5months

    • Blue Team (120 shows)
    • PE = 10 shows
    • Cape Town = 48 shows
    • Bloemfontein = 10 shows
    • KZN = 42 shows

    The blue team will be on the road for most of 5 months.

    They will receive a Per Diem of R150 per day away from home as well as a travel fee of R250 for days spent travelling.

    This contract is worth approximately R60 450.00 for 5months Tips for applications

    • Ability to ‘think on your feet’ and ad-lib or deviate from the script when necessary.
    • Research and interviewing skills.
    • High levels of concentration and multi-tasking ability.
    • Outgoing and confident, with a likeable personality.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
    • Calmness under pressure and the ability to work to strict deadlines.
    • Good memory, for recalling facts, figures and scripts.
    • An excellent command of English and Afrikaans and a clear speaking voice. This is a MUST!
    • Ability to work well with others in the production team and participants in the expo.
    • Comfortable and natural in front of the camera and microphone.
    • Ability to get on and connect with people, young and old, from a wide variety of backgrounds.
    • Clean and respectable appearance
    • Strong values
    • Will never utter the words – “But that’s not my job!”
    • Necessity for Position
    • Have a valid driver’s License.
    • Must be eloquent and able to fluently speak Afrikaans and english
    • Have own reliable vehicle
    • Have no criminal record
    • Is physically fit and willing to work hard
