One of the biggest wholesalers on the continent is currently looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join their Johannesburg-based office. Our South-African retail client started their brand in the early 1990's by acquiring one of the largest wholesale chains in the country. Focussing on high volumes and offering shoppers a retail or wholesale option, they have acquired close to 20 brands and are a top performing, listed retailer. From food-supplies, liquor-distribution, general merchandise and cellular options, they cater to every possible consumer need. With a footprint in more than 13 Sub-Saharan countries, they boast more than 500 stores. In line with their global partners, they keep all key functions in-house; from operations to real estate, marketing to logistics - allowing them to drive down costs and pass savings on to consumers. The strategy behind the roll out of their footprint throughout the continent rests within a specialised property team which rents, builds or owns the spaces needed to sustain their growth. This busy team is looking for someone to join their Construction-Team as a Retailers Quantity Surveyor. Their current property portfolio includes in-mall stores and stand-alone developments, and is spread across the entire continent. As their in-house Quantity Surveyor you will have to manage costs related to building projects, from fit-out to new developments. Your responsibilities will include carrying out feasibility studies, cost control, cost benefits, risk-analysis evaluations and negotiating cost of projects. Having the relevant Quantity Surveying degree, along with a minimum 5 years experience, and cross border costing experience will surely be to your advantage.
