The role

The purpose of the role is to record financial information and to prepare financial reports accurately within the allocated time frame.

Key performance areas

• The accountants responsibility is to review, monitor and control the finances of the contracts, field service and workshops
• In order to do this the accountant will review costs and supply the respective managers, Ops manager and Business Controller with the necessary reports on a weekly and monthly basis
• These reports comprise but are not limited to a weekly parts usage report, a WIP report, utilisation, margin and A& S report. There are also standard month end reports
• These reports are to be used to identify and fix problems not just for ticking the box purposes
• The accountant will be a business partner to the business
• The accountant will supply the Business Controller and Operations manager with a weekly forecast on the coal business so that issues can be identified and addressed timeously.
• The accountant will also perform adhoc exercises as and when required
• The accountant will review and consolidate the sales, cost of sales and & s figures for the Business Controller on a monthly basis and generate the necessary contract invoices and revenue and cost provision calculations. This includes contracts, field service and workshops.
• The accountant will review the total Delmas WIP with the necessary stakeholders on weekly basis.
• The accountant needs to control the business and ensure that the costs are controlled and that the allocations are correct
• The accountant will actively partner with commercial when it comes to escalations, they will review and discuss with the Business Controller before escalations are applied for by commercial
• Ensure that the necessary contract, field service and workshop related costs are released on a monthly basis
• Supply the operations people with any internal reports that they need to manage and control their business
• Review and manage the debtors of the softrock service business and escalate to Business Controller if necessary
• The accountant must train and educate the operations managers and administrators on financials and issues that impact the financials.

Your profile

• B Compt plus CTA
• AA candidate
• Experience in Client audits
• Knowledge and understanding of the principles of finance and the components involved in finance
• Knowledge and understanding of financial systems, the components thereof and the application of the system
• Willing to work extended hours during financial reporting cycles as well as during ad hoc reporting periods.
• Ability to work under pressure
• Ability to attend to finest detail whilst executing outputs to ensure the quality of service delivery
• The ability to execute outputs with exactness and precision thereby eliminating errors
