    Data Quality Analyst

    Job description

    If the answer is yes, then you'll be pleased to hear that we are currently seeking a full-time Data Quality Analyst to join our Business Intelligence team. The Data Quality Analyst will assist in the improvement of Rhino Africa’s overall data quality and the integrity of the company’s production systems. The ideal data enthusiast will be fresh out of university or new to all things analytical with 0 - 1 years of experience in data analysis, SQL, database development and technical documentation and they will get their thrills from exploring and surfing through tables and queries.

    The Data Quality Analyst will cover a broad range of responsibilities, including but not limited to the following:

    • Performing root cause analyses, tracing quality problems to originating source(s) and recommending solutions: both short and long term
    • Collaborating directly with business stakeholders to establish Rhino Africa’s data quality rules
    • Defining and maintaining the repository for data standards, definitions, rules and quality guidelines
    • Performing data profiling, cleansing and normalization
    • Understanding system workflows and documenting key data pipelines
    • Designing and developing SQL scripts, batch processes and other techniques to identify and resolve data quality issues
    • Addressing reporting issues at root cause level
    • Acting as the link between Rhino Africa’s business and technical teams
    • Reporting and following up on gap analysis and measurements for data quality processes

    Requirements

    • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field
    • 0-1 years of experience writing moderately complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers and/or user defined functions
    • Experience with data profiling and cleansing, using SQL or a similar data quality tool
    • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, including a proficiency for root-cause analysis
    • A collaborative and creative approach to solving business issues while working with partner teams
    • Proficiency in Data Warehouse and ETL concepts
    • Experience with code versioning tools
    • Proficiency in scripting abilities and console usage (bash, crons, etc.)
    • Experience in QA is a plus
    • Strict preference will be given to PDI candidates. Please note that we can only consider applications from South African citizens.
