    Front-end Developer

    Job description

    How do you get your design on? However you do, if you are quirky, innovative, and meticulous in your designs and code – and, of course, fanatical about your craft – we want you!

    Webafrica, the top ISP in South Africa, is looking for an inventive front-end developer who is able to capture the essence of our brand in their creations. With a passion for cutting-edge HTML, CSS and JavaScript Techniques, as well as commitment of the highest level of web standards and visual integrity of a website, you could be the next Webafrican to join our Devops team as the front-end developer.

    Requirements

    Minimum requirements

    • Proficient understanding of web mark-up, including HTML5, CSS3
    • Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them.
    • Intermediate (or better) skills in JavaScript (knowledge of JQuery a plus)
    • Ability to quickly turn a mockup into valid HTML and CSS
    • Intermediate (or better) Adobe Photoshop skills
    • Understanding of layout aesthetics
    • Good understanding of SEO principles and ensuring that application will adhere to them.
    • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as {{Git/ SVN}}
    • 3 - 5 years’ experience in front-end web development
    • Ability to work in a team environment and accept feedback constructively
    • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred

    Key Performance Areas

    • Oversee webafrica.co.za code base to keep it well maintained, optimized and current
    • Identify areas of potential improvement on webafrica.co.za site, propose solutions and execute on those projects
    • Execute all web development tasks for marketing campaigns and projects, which incorporate images, forms and analytics tracking code
    • Code HTML emails that display properly in multiple email clients
    • Perform maintenance on webafrica.co.za as needed to support multiple departments, make content updates and fix any bugs
    • Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
    • Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability
    • Collaborate with back-end developers and web designers to improve usability
    • Ensure high quality graphic standards and brand consistency
    • Maintain and update our online customer facing systems
    • Working closely with multiple departments to code new projects and efficiently implement new designs
