    PM Manager - Project Management Office

    Job description

    The PM Manager role will be to inspire, mentor and lead the project management team - ensuring that all our PMs are delivering projects on time and on budget - whilst leading the way in shaping and improving our project management methodology. The PM Manager will be responsible for ensuring that projects are correctly resourced as well as taking ownership of the line management and personal development of the PM team. The role will be expected to work closely with the Architecture, Business Analysis and QA teams to ensure that solutions and projects are delivered to the highest standards. The role will be required to program manage strategic initiatives.

    The key responsibilities for this role include:

    • Ensuring that projects are meeting the required standards and are being delivered successfully by the project management team
    • Always thinking about the operational and commercial performance of the project management side of the business to ensure it is as effective as possible
    • Maintain a working overview of all active projects and ensure a top-level understanding of their current status
    • Collaborate with the Executive and Management teams to successfully deliver projects
    • Empowerment of project management team members and to define, manage, monitor and review clear roles and responsibilities.
    • Recruitment and on boarding of Project Managers and ensuring adequate resource and talent allocation to meet business and project needs to ensure a high-performing project management team.
    • Manage employee/team performance by setting objectives and performance metrics and standards and conducting performance reviews
    • Provide ongoing coaching, feedback and guidance to team members, creating personal and professional development plans that include on and off-job learning and development opportunities
    • Continuous improvement on the success and quality of project delivery by ensuring that best practices are applied
    • Quickly and effectively manage and drive resolution of escalated project issues
    • Continuously manage stakeholder expectations
    • Manage and oversee multiple priorities and resolve conflict at all levels of the organization
    • Ensure customer focus is at the heart of everything we do
    • Responsible for ensuring completion of required project and management reporting
    • Ownership of project management policies and procedures, ensuring regular reviews and improvements

    The minimum requirements are:

    • Relevant Degree / Diploma
    • A recognised project management qualification or demonstrable career development activities.
    • 5 or more years in a Senior Project Management role in the IT industry with special emphasis on software development and implementation.
    • Demonstrable experience in managing teams of people as well as people management skills.
    • Have a proven track record of project delivery, with a significant number of projects delivered into the business.
    • Ability to use ‘best practice’ in all aspects of project management, with focus on practical results rather than process.
    • Strong knowledge of project lifecycle, artefacts, techniques and methodologies.
    • Solid SDLC experience.
    • Working knowledge of benefits management and business change.
    • Significant communication (verbal, written, listening) and influencing skills.
    • Knowledge of mrp and/or the Retail sector and broad understanding of traditional and new technologies used in a retail and online environment (desirable).
