Job Specification
The Academic Development Centre (ADC) strives to provide theoretically based and practical interventions and developmental opportunities to both Academic staff and students. The units within the ADC consists of a number of areas of functional expertise including Academic Development & Innovations (ADI) and Access programmes. All student related services are equally but proportionally represented on all four UJ campuses and the ADC staff strive to provide integrated, relevant and up-to-date growth opportunities. The Academic Development Innovations wing of the ADC offers extensive student learning programmes (MAPS, Mentoring programmes, study skills, academic counselling etc), as well as language and literacies development interventions [writing centres, languages courses imbedded in respective disciplines: Writing-In-the Discipline (WID) and writing-Across-the Curriculum (WAC,)] within faculties and other segments of university (English language course for international students' proficiency). A significant focus of the teaching and learning in the ADI wing is the utilisation of academic development teaching methodologies and strategies.
