    Senior HR Consultant- Dispute Resolution

    Job description

    To provide consistent functional excellence in facilitating the achievement of Bowman’s business goals and HR Strategy through the execution of expert Human Resources solutions (attraction, retention and development), advice, support and guidance to line managers, partners and employees.

    To provide first level advice and support on key HR activities (employee lifecycle changes, policies, processes, training & development, recruitment & selection, performance monitoring and HR Systems) to all employees, enabling them to enhance productivity in terms of their people management, core HR compliance and alignment to business strategies; this whilst ensuring the integration of effective HR processes within the best practice framework.

    EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 4 – 6 years’ in a HR Generalist role with experience operating as a Senior HR Consultant/HR Business Partner in a professional services environment.
    • Degree – a qualification in Human Resources Management is essential

    JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Building relationships and becoming a trusted HR advisor within designated departments
    • Develop relationships with line managers, partners and employees to become their trusted HR advisor
    • Support the development and implementation of HR strategies, policies, programs and procedures at an operational level
    • Collaborate with line management by identifying opportunities for change and providing project knowledge and input as required.
    • Coach line managers on a one-to-one basis until change is embedded.
    • Collaborate with the HR Manager in relation to strategic opportunities across internal and international groups.
    • Support recruitment, onboarding and exiting of employees within designated departments/offices
    • Provide support and guidance to management on recruitment in accordance with the Firm’s recruitment strategy, policy and employment equity plan
    • Liaise with the relevant specialist HR teams and relevant business service departments to ensure that there is a smooth on-boarding process for lateral hires as well as secondees to integrate the individual successfully into the firm.
    • Actively engage and monitor performance of the individual during their probationary period
    • Liaise with the relevant specialist HR teams and relevant business service departments to ensure that there is a smooth exit process.
    • Conduct exit interviews with employees and provide quarterly reports on trends identified for future retention strategies
    • Involved in resource planning, performance management and development of all employees within designated departments/offices
    • Support line managers in the identification of their respective talent groups and assist in putting together the relevant manpower plans
    • Work closely with HR Manager and respective partners to monitor work allocation and productivity of lawyers
    • Work closely with management and partners in identifying candidates that are eligible for promotions and assisting with relevant submissions. (promotions of associates to senior associates and business services)
    • Assist in driving the goal setting, performance management and promotions process within designated departments, business services or offices, ffacilitate performance appraisals
    • Actively engage with employees to assist them in drafting development plans, monitoring progress and collaborate with Learning to best facilitate and support development
    • Work with HR Manager and liaise with relevant specialist HR team to initiate retention strategies identified i.e. learning, secondments
    • Provides assistance with Employee Relations issues
    • Provide advice on ER procedures, inclusive of poor performance, issuing of warnings, disciplinary inquiries, grievances and referrals to external tribunals, in a manner that minimizes risk and supports the culture of the Firm and is compliant to the country specific disciplinary policy and procedure
    • Guide management and assist employees if additional support is required through referring the individual to the employee wellness service providers.
    • Work closely with the specialist HR team and provide support to management with regards to employee’s health and incapacity.
    • HR policies and procedures within Bowmans
    • Promote awareness of and ensure adherence to all HR policies
    • Remuneration & benefits implementation, compliance and support
    • Gather the relevant performance information by engaging with line managers
    • Finalise performance rating through moderation process and link to salary increase schedule
    • Review increase schedule for accuracy and consistency
    • Provide the HR administrator with schedules to produce letters. Check the accuracy of these letters and distribute them to the relevant partners and managers.
    • Analysis and Reporting/HR metrics
    • Analyse HR data and provide line managers with information on a quarterly basis that will assist them in making business decisions.
    • Contribute to assigned initiatives and projects
    • Assist with the implementation of firm wide initiatives, change management and projects
