    Account Executive - Group Risk And Retirement- Winelands

    Job description:

    • This job description outlines the responsibilities, requirements, and expectations for both new and existing staff in the role of Account Executive: Group Risk and Retirement. The role is focused on the strategic consulting, servicing, and day-to-day management of group risk and retirement fund clients under the guidance of the National Head of Group Risk and Retirement.

    Job Overview:

    • The Account Executive: Group Risk and Retirement is primarily responsible for a portfolio of clients, providing strategic EB consulting, leading service delivery, and managing projects. The role includes direct interaction with clients, management of internal support teams, and strategic relationship building with group risk and retirement providers and employer groups.

    Responsibilities:

     Strategic Management of Clients

    • Implement and manage all elements of group risk and retirement strategies and projects within employer groups.
    • Provide overall management of all corporate clients, including regular engagements.
    • Propose strategies to mitigate risks, improve efficiencies, and leverage opportunities.
    • Mentor and manage member and admin consultants, including providing training.
    • Manage data, communication, and engagement with at least one insurer on behalf of the team.
    • Conduct detailed analysis of client benefits and make provider recommendations through annual risk and retirement re-broke exercises
    • Compile and present reports that demonstrate utilisation and value delivery.
    • Identify and pursue new business and cross-selling opportunities in conjunction with the Head of Group Risk and Retirement.
    • Facilitate relationships between clients and insurers.
    • Support the EB team with client-specific strategies and communications.
    • Back up member and admin consultants when required.
    • Provide your team with on-going training in terms of compiling Advisory Body packs and minutes, plus other ad-hoc support requirements, including client inductions and support onboarding activities – in conjunction with the Strategic Servicing Manager.
    • Provide face-to-face support for escalated member/HR/payroll queries.
    • Facilitate new client on-boarding and existing client switches between insurers.
    • Respond to escalated and complex client enquiries in a timely manner.

    Client Relationship Management

    • Liaise with insurers, administrators, and third-party service providers to resolve issues.
    • Build and manage relationships with HR and payroll teams.
    • Conduct training with HR on internal processes and procedures.
    • Assist HR with queries related to billing and group risk and retirement benefits.

    Compliance

    • Maintain and update client records in compliance with regulatory standards.
    • Ensure “Fit and Proper” status and timely completion of CPD requirements.
    • Maintain a sound understanding of the Pension Funds Act and related legislation.
    • Attend and facilitate internal training to ensure up-to-date product and compliance knowledge.
    • Ensure the admin system/myPractice is used for recording all client interactions.

    Reporting and Data Management

    • Maintain accurate and compliant client records on the central drive as well as myPractice.
    • Keep a secure and organised database of client data, adhering to confidentiality.
    • Provide the Head of Group Risk and Retirement with monthly client updates as per the Client Activity Tracker.
    • Alert senior management of any client risks.
    • Ensure that all clients are upskilled in utilising all digital platforms ensuring that we reduce the administrative burden (e.g. Smart Exits).

    Team Oversight and Coordination

    • Lead, guide, and support the Administration Consultant and Member Consultant, ensuring tasks are completed within SLAs.
    • Allocate responsibilities and monitor workloads across both roles.
    • Provide mentorship and ongoing training to ensure staff remain “fit and proper” and complete CPD requirements.
    • Consolidate feedback and reports from Admin and Member Consultants into executive-level updates, including meeting notes and onsite sessions.
    • Track performance of both roles against KPIs, addressing gaps where needed.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching to ensure professional growth.

    Minimum requirements:

    • Grade 12
    • NQF5 qualification and RE5 (post-graduate diploma or BCom is advantageous).
    • 5–10 years of relevant group risk and retirement experience in financial services, brokerage preferable.
    • Proficiency in English and at least one other official South African language.
    • Computer literacy (MS Office)
    • Valid driver’s license and own vehicle.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Attention to detail and discretion in handling sensitive information.
    • In depth knowledge of group risk, retirement fund, and related legislation.
