    Accountant

    Reporting to Senior Manager

    Group Finance Reporting
    Key Responsibilities

    • Assisting with the preparation of Group Management Accounts which comply with IFRS
      • Produce monthly Group Management Accounts (including all primary statements) as well as statistical data
      • Analyse significant variances and prepare financial commentary on the results
      • Update consolidating journals and ensure that all intercompany transactions are identified and eliminated on a group level
      • Translation of foreign subsidiaries and associates
    • Assisting with the preparation of the Finance section of the Discovery Limited Board Report and other external reporting
    • Assisting with the preparation of annual Group budgets and monthly profit forecasts
    • Assisting with the preparation of Interim and Annual Financial Statements (AFS) for Discovery Limited and its subsidiaries, as well as various other external reports
    • Liaising with internal and external auditors
    • Responsible for the administration of the accounting system (Sage) and reporting system (Finnivo) for the Discovery Group
      • Assist with GL maintenance for all subsidiaries of the Group
      • Assist with updating Group AFS pack or monthly management account template changes in Finnivo
      • Assist with ad hoc queries from business areas
    • Systems and process improvements
    • Assisting with ad hoc technical accounting queries

    The Candidate Should Have

    Qualifications and Experience

    • CA (SA) qualification
    • At least 2 years of experience post articles in a similar role
    • Advanced IFRS knowledge and application
    • Excellent knowledge of MS Office packages, including Excel, Word & PowerPoint

    Experience working on Sage is advantageous
