Accountant at Starke Ayres

Introduction

A vacancy exists for an experienced Accountant to join Kombat in Greytown (KZN). The role will be responsible for the preparation of the Company’s monthly management accounts and assisting in the preparation of annual financial statements. The successful candidate will also be required to accurately reconcile general ledger accounts to trial balance including the full accounting function.  

Responsibilities

• Ensures timely posting of all information to the general ledger on a monthly basis, so as to comply with Group reporting deadlines.
• Reconciles balance sheet accounts in the general ledger on a monthly basis.
• Performs the monthly Cash Book reconciliation and follows up all outstanding deposits in this regard.
• Checks the validity and accuracy of all expenses and other allocations and ensures that they are posted to the correct accounts.
• Captures all invoices on the system and ensures prompt payment of all outstanding invoices.
• Captures stock creditor invoices into pastel ensuring that bill of materials are updated on a regular basis and remain accurate.
• Submits VAT returns and payments timeously.
• Supervises the Office Administrator, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the execution of her duties.
• Maintains the company fixed asset register, processing monthly depreciation, asset additions and disposals.
• Prepares all year end schedules and reconciliations to assist with the year end audit.
• Ensures the accuracy of the company stock holding and maintains the inventory reports and pastel inventory module.
• Liase with the office administrator to ensure that creditors are paid accurately and on time.
• Imports : Handling / processing of import orders, liase with clearing agents and arrange for payment of suppliers and agents.
• Determines sales prices ensuring optimum GP for the company and submit to Directors for approval.
• Maintains and adjusts selling prices in line with ad hoc cost increases ensuring company GP’s are not eroded. 

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• Ability to interpret and analyze financial statements and periodicals
• Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
• 3- 5 years experience as an Accountant
• Excellent understanding and knowledge of accounting principles.
• Accuracy, attention to detail and ability to adhere to tight deadlines;
