Accounting Specialist at Mars

• The jobholder is responsible for the correct and efficient execution of financial processes in line with our corporate policies. The purpose of the role is to ensure that accounting practices within the organization are compliant with the legislation and all SARS and other legal Regulations are applied, all accounting procedures followed and documented. It is also to ensure that reporting and financial controls are in place and in compliance with the Mars Finance Manual

What are we looking for?

• CA SA or CIMA
• Min. 3 to 5 years of experience in accounting / finance
• Expert in Accounting, Financial Processes, Financial Control. knowledge on taxes
• Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills
• Takes initiative and delivers on first time quality

What will be your key responsibilities?
G/L Accounting

• Responsible for period and year end closing activities and reporting
• Analysis of periodic results
• Analysis of budget to actual
• Review of the trial balance and maintenance of the permanent account audit file
• Inventory adjustments
• Stock reports & stock analysis
• Point of contact for specialist teams (e.g. Treasury, Tax, Currency Centre or Auditing firm)
• Fixed assets management

Internal control & Audit

• Implementation of priorities defined by the Group
• Drafting procedures
• Improvement of the compliance check list's score
• Ensuring compliance with procedures
• Management of the audit process including interim and end-of-year audits by tax authorities and auditors
• Management and support of internal controls and procedures

Legal Requirements

• Preparation of all statutory reporting's
• Management of all Mars internal reporting's
• Periodical TAX declarations including VAT
• Ensuring payment run checks
