Actuarial Modeller at Sanlam Group

Under direct supervision, performs assignments of actuarial-related duties such as preparing, performing and analysing actuarial research and audits. Other duties include collecting data from various databases and performing standard mathematical calculations.

Output/Core Tasks

• Maintenance and development of Prophet models (and related tools) used in the valuation process, solvency calculation and balance sheet projections
• Review and enhance specifications for model changes
• Unit and regression testing of model changes
• Documentation of model changes and tests
• Support with the implementation of models
• Peer review of specifications, model changes and documentation
• Assistance with ad-hoc tasks and investigations
• Focus will be mainly on the Prophet model used for SRA’s individual life risk products (incl Matrix product range)
• As part of the Reporting team, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to the enhancement of actuarial valuation processes
• Over time, you will gain an in-depth knowledge of the risk product range and the analysis and interpretation of results produced by the models.

Qualifications:

• Actuarial student (good progress with subjects will be an advantage).
