    Advanced Manufacturing Product Engineer (63591)

    Job Description

    • Our client, part of a global group are looking for an experienced Product Engineer based in Cape Town. The client specialises in the development and manufacture of high-performance components and assemblies using advanced lightweight composite materials for the aviation industry.

    Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

    • B.Eng or BSc Mechanical or Industrial Engineering Degree
    • Min. 5 years work experience in the manufacturing industry essential,
    • Min. 3 years Project Management experience in the manufacturing industry essential. (Candidates from Automotive or Aviation industry will get preference)
    • Operating in a multi-project environment with different customers.
    • Experience in working with multiple projects at any given time.
    • Working on a global level interfacing with diverse cultures.
    • Expertise in composite design and manufacturing processes is preferable.
    • Sound knowledge in CAE software, preferably CATIA V5 and MasterCAM Machining.
    • SAP or equivalent ERP experience advantageous.
    • Willingness to travel locally and abroad on supplier and customer visits.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Implement and support composite manufacturing processes, including tooling, technical software, process optimisation, and best practices from project initiation through to serial production handover.
    • Ensure products meet technical specifications and project timelines.
    • Manage engineering design and data, including milestone planning, reporting, technical guidance to designers, concept evaluation, and change management.
    • Review customer change requests and Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs).
    • Participate in projects from Kick-Off Meeting (KOM) through development, qualification, and Production Readiness Review Meeting (PRRM) handover.
    • Support Material Review Board (MRB) for dispositioning of non-conforming parts.
    • Oversee development and qualification testing in coordination with Testing and Certification teams.
    • Manage production verification sampling.
    • Assist with preparation of customer proposals in cooperation with Sales and Program Management.
    • Provide customer liaison and on-site technical support as required.
    • Create BOMs and Material Masters.
    • Implement new or changed products/design data into serial production to deliver competitive solutions in collaboration with customers.
    • Deliver professional analysis services to optimise products for weight, cost, and strength.
    • Ensure all requirements are met throughout the product life cycle.
    • Capture and reflect lessons learnt into Design and Development (including Tooling) requirements.
    • Support customer-approved Rework/Repair Manual.
