    Anaesthetist

    Requirements :

    • Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as an Anaesthetic specialist. Registration with the HPCSA as a medical specialist and proof of current registration. Experience in Anaesthesia

    Duties :

    • The incumbent will be responsible for: The perioperative care and anaesthesia of patients. Supervising junior doctors (undergraduate students and registrars). Attendance of relevant administrative meetings like mortality meetings, near miss meetings and completing Medico-Legal documents timeously (e.g. death associated with anaesthesia form).
    • Improve quality of care by providing appropriate clinical care. Reduce medical litigation by exercising a good clinical ethos. Implement and monitor adherence to Ideal Hospital Realization and maintenance (norms and standards).
    • Participate in all activities of the discipline in relation to teaching and research. Participate in a multidisciplinary team to optimize the management of patients. Performance of practical procedures relevant to the care of patients.
    • Ensure that administration and record keeping is done in the department. Be willing to do commuted overtime rendering of after-hour (night, weekend and public holiday) duties to provide continuous uninterrupted care of patients
