Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as an Anaesthetic specialist. Registration with the HPCSA as a medical specialist and proof of current registration. Experience in Anaesthesia
Duties :
The incumbent will be responsible for: The perioperative care and anaesthesia of patients. Supervising junior doctors (undergraduate students and registrars). Attendance of relevant administrative meetings like mortality meetings, near miss meetings and completing Medico-Legal documents timeously (e.g. death associated with anaesthesia form).
Improve quality of care by providing appropriate clinical care. Reduce medical litigation by exercising a good clinical ethos. Implement and monitor adherence to Ideal Hospital Realization and maintenance (norms and standards). Participate in all activities of the discipline in relation to teaching and research.
Participate in a multidisciplinary team to optimize the management of patients. Performance of practical procedures relevant to the care of patients. Ensure that administration and record keeping is done in the department.
Be willing to do commuted overtime rendering of after-hour (night, weekend and public holiday) duties to provide continuous uninterrupted care of patients
