Application Developer at FNB South Africa

We are currently recruiting for a Applications Developer with strong Python skills within the IT team for FNB Life.

The ideal Developer should provide IT expertise and advice in the design, creation, testing and documentation of new and enhanced applications and systems in accordance with agreed framework of programming standards. To produce logical and technical specifications from functional specifications and to write the code for medium to large applications..

Ideal fit for the role:

• Good knowledge in SQL is essential (Querying complex sets of data, creating functions, stored procedures etc.)
• Ability to create Python applications is essential
• Knowledge of web services (JSON, REST or SOAP)
• Eagerness to learn and build out new platforms that integrate with an existing ecosystem.
• A “self-starter” is critical to this role.
• The ability to guide and coach on sustainable technical solutions is preferred.
• Knowledge of integrating and using large data structures in application code.
• Detail oriented and interested in working within a small, dedicated team.
• Experience with Automation Testing preferred
• Experience with “Kubernetes” preferred
• Experience with monitoring software such as “Dynatrace, ELK” preferred
• Experience with software development lifecycle tools “GIT, Jira, etc.” preferred

Qualifications and experience required:

• B.Comm, B.Eng, BSC Eng, BSC Informatics or related degree.
• 3 – 5 years experience in programming.
• Familiar with one or more programming languages as appropriate for the specific requirements of the department related to the field.
• System Design experience advantageous.
