    Application Specialist II - Brackenfell

    Job Objectives:

    • Coordinate and Conduct product demonstration and report generation on sample analysis..
    • Participate in the operation and support of high availability business critical systems.
    • Provide 1st level support on Complex issues and general 2nd level support to end user.
    • Adhering to and ensuring SLA levels are adhered to.
    • Conduct system and service performance monitoring and proactive improvement.
    • Participate in the delivery of quality systems solutions and ensures optimal performance of multiple system applications.
    • Sets technical direction for complex development, maintenance and architecture initiatives ensuring adherence to overall IT architectural and solution direction.
    • Follows established processes in order to efficiently deliver high quality service.
    • Support and coordinate development activities as needed.
    • Act as a technical systems specialist during the selection and deployment and configuration of new moderate to complex systems in the organization.
    • Participates in user requirement definition and analysis activities by proactively gathering information to learn about their needs and expectations & sets expectations appropriately.
    • Proactively identify and recommend opportunities for delivering new and improving existing solutions to meet the business requirements.
    • Participates in the periodical implementation of complex release changes, creation and implementation of new complex system requirements in special projects.
    • Provide input to application teams to ensure identification and delivery of complex system solutions.
    • Ensure rollout of moderate to high complexity new Software, Reports, or functionality.
    • Ensure familiarity with System capabilities and functionalities to provide the best assistance.
    • Keep up to date on System changes and functionality to ensure the feedback they provide stays relevant and are best for the end User and Team.
    • Participates in the process to determine system application impact assessments and architectural solutions.
    • Ensure effective Incident management individually, in team and in cooperation with other support teams.
    • Keep track of daily occurrences or requests and escalations and give input to development of a more permanent solutions.
    • Diagnose errors and breakdowns in the development pipeline and perform technical support as needed.
    • Track vendor related issues of moderate to high complexity from discovery to completion.
    • Reproduces, resolves, escalates, and reports all problems on all applications of high complexity.
    • Quality Assure and Provide client input to Product Managers, Business Analysts and Programmers in regards to complex product features and enhancements.
    • Formulate processes and best practices for users of applications.
    • Ensure effective onboarding / offboarding of Users, ensuring Licenses are used optimally.
    • Creates complex system application roadmaps.
    • Implement new applications within a business area by providing users with guides or training on how to use specific technologies, features or software programs.
    • Configure, compile, refine and maintain JIRA dashboards and reporting.

    Qualifications

    • Matric
    • 3-year IT qualification
    • MS SQL fundementals (Introduction to SQL) Certification
    • MS SQL - Querying data with Transact Certification
    • ITIL 4 Bridge Certification
    • DevOps principles

    Experience

    • 3-6 years’ experience as an Application Specialist.  
    • IT Support and Operations knowledge. 
    • Good working knowledge of MS Office Suite. 
    • Good working knowledge of different operating systems and Internet technologies.
    • Experience in a Retail and or Financial Services industry.
    • Experience in software testing. 
    • IT Support and Operations knowledge.
    • Working knowledge of different operating systems and Internet technologies.
    • Experience of working on projects within the Software Development Life Cycle.
    • Incident management system knowledge
    • Change management experience. 
    • Exposure to vendor management.
