Artisan Assistant - VKB Milling, Mokopane at VKB Group

About the role

• To install, maintain, test, and commission electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment and systems at the plant, including electrical transmission and distribution equipment. The role also involves conducting preventative maintenance while ensuring full compliance with Food Safety standards and all Health & Safety regulations to support a safe and efficient operational environment.

Requirements

• Grade 12/ NQF 4 with Math and Science as subjects
• 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role in the Manufacturing industry (preferably food manufacturing industry).
• Semi qualification in Millwright engineering
• Must have a valid Driver’s license 

Duties & Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair, test, and commission mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment in line with operational requirements.
• Manufacture, fit, and repair machine components to ensure optimal plant performance.
• Perform fault finding, diagnostics, and corrective actions on mechanical and electrical systems.
• Execute preventative maintenance activities in accordance with maintenance schedules and SOPs.
• Create, capture, update, and close job cards on the On-Key system in line with SOPs and timelines.
• Perform scheduled On-Key duties accurately and in full.
• Report follow-up work, breakdowns, and downtime losses on the On-Key system.
• Submit accurate and timeous maintenance records and reports.
• Reduce equipment breakdowns and improve overall equipment availability.
• Report all breakdowns immediately to the Maintenance Manager.
• Conduct hourly equipment and line inspections to ensure operational readiness.
• Ensure packing department printers and related equipment are operational prior to production start-up.
• Ensure all deep-cleaning job cards are completed during planned maintenance shutdowns.
• Maintain effective control of tools and spares; report any losses or discrepancies to management.
• Shutdowns, Cleaning & Asset Care
• Take accountability for issued tools and spares in line with company procedures.
• Adhere to food safety, quality, SHE, and applicable 20 Keys requirements.
• Complete all required food safety documentation accurately and timeously.
• Ensure all staff comply with SHEQ rules and regulations in line with the organisation’s safety systems.
• Attend SHEQ training as required.
• Perform any other duties as reasonably requested by the Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Planner, Business Unit Manager, or designated stand-in.
