Artisan: Fitter (7124) at Komatsu Mining

Qualifications:

• Fitter Trade Certificate.

Experience:

• 3 years' experience in maintaining, servicing and working on Rope Shovel earth-moving equipment.

Specific Knowledge Requirements:

• Exposure to earth moving machinery
• Have good trouble shooting knowledge on machines & familiar with standard tool requirements
• Computer literate
• Good understanding of maintenance philosophy
• Good communication and inter-personal skills
• Valid driver's license.

Job Specifications:

General Machine Inspection

• Plans for health checks and inspection of equipment (new and used in stock) 
• Conducts visual machine/equipment inspection as per applicable Komatsu technical literature 
• Informs leadership of the work steps, inspection findings and technical issues  
• Tests and adjusts faulty components/parts/ systems
• Monitors the functionality of the component/equipment and progress made
• Reports inspection results, as well as any abnormalities or damages
• Reports problems and issues to leadership/line manager
• Submits relevant reports as per division/section requirements
• Provides feedback with regard to continuous improvement/suggestions to leadership/line manager

General Troubleshooting & Diagnostics

• Plans troubleshooting process of equipment (new and used in stock)
• Plans and prepares for anticipated tools and manuals in conjunction with leadership/line manager
• Informs leadership of the scope of work and technical issues  
• Conducts fault finding and applying root cause analysis as per applicable Komatsu technical literature 
• Initiates required parts orders for works order
• Obtains technical advice on complex troubleshooting
• Compares actual measurements against specification 
• Reports fault finding results, as well as any abnormalities or damage and recommends repair solution
• Reports problems and issues to leadership/line manager
• Submits relevant reports as per division/section requirements
• Provides feedback with regard to continuous improvement/suggestions to leadership

General Machine Repairs

• Plans for repairs of equipment, with regard to dates, workshops (facilities), nomination of work scope, stock and other resources
• Informs leadership of the scope of work and technical issues  
• Repairs equipment/components as per applicable Komatsu technical literature 
• Tests and adjusts equipment/components
• Obtains technical advice on complex repairs 
• Checks and returns un-used consumable stock & parts back into warehouse as per approved process/procedure
• Monitors the functionality of the component/equipment and progress made
• Reports problems and issues to leadership/line manager
• Submits relevant reports as per division/section requirements
• Provides feedback with regard to continuous improvement/suggestions to leadership

General Machine Services

• Plans for service of equipment, with regard to dates, workshops, nomination of work scope, stock and other resources
• Informs leadership of the scope of work and technical issues  
• Executes services on machines as per applicable Komatsu technical literature 
• Obtains technical advice on complex repairs
• Checks and returns unused supplied stock & parts back into warehouse as per approved process/procedure
• Reports service results, as well as any abnormalities or damages
• Reports problems and issues to leadership/line manager
• Submits relevant reports as per division/section requirements
• Provides feedback with regard to continuous improvement/suggestions to leadership/line manager

General Machine & Component Disassembly & Assembly (new & rebuild)

• Plans for service of equipment, with regard to dates, workshops, nomination of work scope, stock and other resources
• Informs leadership of the scope of work and technical issues  
• Executes services on machines as per applicable Komatsu technical literature 
• Obtains technical advice on complex repairs
• Checks and returns unused supplied stock & parts back into warehouse as per approved process/procedure
• Reports service results, as well as any abnormalities or damages
• Reports problems and issues to leadership/line manager
• Submits relevant reports as per division/section requirements
• Provides feedback with regard to continuous improvement/suggestions to leadership/line manager
