Artisan Turner Gr 2 at Sasol

Purpose of Job

• This Turner position will form part of the Centralized Maintenance Function within Sasolburg and Natref Operations reporting to the Natref Rotating Workshop Manager. This team is responsible for doing all the machining requests for the day to day running plant maintenance and during shutdowns.

Key Accountabilities

• The key responsibilities of this Turner position would be to support the various maintenance divisions with all their machining and turning job requests. Execution of this maintenance activities is expected to be of an exceptional high standard and due to the criticality and applicable safety requirements including but not limited to;
• Work in accordance with quality plans and work procedures.
• Support all the various maintenance divisions with all their machining requests.
• Be conversant with the operating of lathe’s, milling machine, key seaters etc.

Functional / Technical

• Operating all types of Machine Workshop machinery.
• Work in accordance with quality control plans and work procedures.
• Be able to work to fine tolerance and precision on all machine job requests.
• To conversant with the reading of technical drawings.
• Work according to SAP work orders (or similar)

Behavioural

• Feedback to customer (plant maintenance).
• Communicate with customer concerning all the machining requests as/when required.

Formal Education

• Grade 12 with Maths and Science or N3 with Maths, Science and Language  – NQF Level 4
• Qualified as an Artisan Turner NQF4
• Valid Code 8 drivers’ licence (MUST)

Work Experience

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Turner after obtaining a NQF4 artisan certification, which should at least the following:
• Lathe’s
• Key seater
• Milling Machine
• Boring Mill
• Pedestal grinders
• Balancing
• Knowledge of ISO 18000 safety standards / similar safety systems
• Knowledge of ISO 9001:2008 quality management system
