    Asset Analyst

    Main purpose of position
    Currently we are looking for an Asset Analyst in Cape Town, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. This position is working for a leading global renewable energy company and requires an experienced Analyst who has preferably worked on large infrastructure projects, had exposure to project and contract management, analysis and interpretation of data, stakeholder engagement, financial reporting and governance. Interest, passion and experience in the renewable energy or similar industry will be beneficial.

    Main responsibilities 

    • Analytics Use automated tools to extract and interpret data from primary and secondary sources.
    • Analyse and report on trends, patterns, and predictions that impact both the organization and the industry
    • Work with Asset Management and O&M teams to identify and implement process improvement initiatives.
    • Lender Relationship Management: Prepare documentation required by the lenders on a periodic basis including, amongst others, operating reports, compliance confirmations and financial reports
    • Update monthly operating cashflow models and provide recommendations based on performance
    • Monitor and ensure compliance with debt covenants and other key financial metrics per financial forecasts.
    • Monitor project level profit and loss (P&L) activities to ensure that the power plants are delivering expected financial returns.
    • Budgeting
    • Administer all project financing agreements including the monitoring of all payments of the plants.
    • Maintain and manage all respective permits and licenses.
    • Review the electricity tariff and kilowatt hours of electricity sold.
    • Monitor and ensure the timeous collection of electricity revenue.
    • Providing and implementing notices under the Project agreements
    • Land lease and landowner relationship management
    • Documentation for lease payments and payment certificates

    Qualifications and competencies 

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Financial Reporting, Management Accounting, Financial Statistics, Business Science or equivalent 
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Power BI
    • A Professional qualification such as CFA, CA(SA), CIMA, ACCA would be beneficial.
    • 3-5 years working experience in the following environments: Project finance, Financial Planning & Analysis, Finance & Accounting, Project Financial Accounting
    • Proficiency in understanding and interpreting management accounts, financial statements and budgets.
    • Proficiency in cashflow analysis, projections and tracking performance metrics against budget
    • Experience in the renewable energy sector would be beneficial
    • Experience with innovation initiatives
    • Strong ability to think outside of the box and solution driven
