Assistant Accountant / Junior Accountant at Salt South Africa

The role:

Key responsibilities:

• Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
• Performing bank, credit card, and payment platform reconciliations
• Maintaining accurate accounting records and supporting documentation
• Processing expense claims and supplier payments
• Supporting month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations
• Assisting with intercompany reconciliations and reporting
• Maintaining audit-ready financial records
• Identifying opportunities to improve and streamline finance processes

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Professional qualification in progress or completed (SAICA, SAIPA, CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent)
• Previous bookkeeping experience, including AP, AR, and reconciliations
• Good understanding of month-end processes and general ledger reconciliations
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and take ownership
• Experience with Xero advantageous
• Exposure to multi-entity environments beneficial
