Assistant Controller at Bidvest International Logistics

Job Purpose    

• Bidvest International Logistics (BIL) seeks the permanent placement of a dedicated Assistant Controller at the Ore Berth Sampling Facility within Eastern Cape, Port Elizabeth. The individual should be fully compliant with all SHERQ safety processes and procedures.

Qualifications & Experience    

• Matric Certificate
• Previous experience of Sampling bulk materials will be advantageous
• Knowledge of bulk Sampling

Key Responsibilities    

• Ensuring that manganese Ore Sampling is conducted according to ISO standards at the Ore Berth Sampling Facility at the harbour
• Supervising casual labourers whilst processing Ore Samples
• Applying approved procedures and principles to ensure the safety of all operatives at the Sampling Facility
• Assist in managing all aspects of bulk stock control and contamination risk management during the storage and loading process
• Liaise with TPT and stevedores during loading
• Keep accurate record of loading times/delays/increments taken/sub-samples
• Conduct pre-inspections on the automatic Samplers and effect minor repair work should the need arise
• Ensure that reclaimers are correctly positioned prior to loading
• Vessel attendance bulk

• Ability to self-organise and self-manage the job requirements without supervision
• Identify potential risks
• Sampling conducted in accordance with ISO standards
• Effective functioning in a team environment
