Job Purpose

- Bidvest International Logistics (BIL) seeks the permanent placement of a dedicated Assistant Controller at the Ore Berth Sampling Facility within Eastern Cape, Port Elizabeth. The individual should be fully compliant with all SHERQ safety processes and procedures.

Job Purpose
- Bidvest International Logistics is looking for a dedicated Assistant Controller to take control of the import files once the Controllers have pre-registered the files. Ensure proactiveness, and very high levels of communication to both internally and External Stakeholders.. This role is the back office for the full function of Imports, from registration, Cargo dues processing, DI to Transporter, release and payment to Carriers and/or Groupage Agents. Requesting for Transport costing, and preparation of final invoice for the client, according to client or BIL KPI's. To ensure all key Milestone are updated according to processes. Maintain all internal financial queries (Debtors & Creditors), wips & Accrual, uninvoiced etc.

EXPERIANCE:
- At least 1 years’ experience in Imports Clearing.
- A sound knowledge of sea freight, import procedures and documentation.

Key Responsibilities
Full handling of file from Registration to Invoicing, including below specifics:
- The ability to handle the full seafreight imports procedure from registration, transport, release, through to invoicing to client.
- Ensure all relevant documents are Edoc onto cargowise prior to tasking to entries department.
- Ability to upload and request documents to shipping lines online platform.
- The ability to pay disbursements and obtain release for all shipment type.
- The ability to prepare transport delivery instructions, CTO’s and rail consignment notes, with an understanding of haulage contracts.
- Calculate correctly storage, demurrage and other charges applicable to each file, as well as understand 3rd party charges from Agents, Transporters, and depots.
- Request transport costing sheets as per individual client’s agreed transport rates.
- Check & Task out import files as per client’s agreed rates and ensure all 3rd party charges have been accounted for.

- Resolve queries with 3rd parties and deal with Recon queries
- Precost 3rd party charges before actual invoice obtained

- Participate in site drills and provide executive feedback on effectiveness.
- Conduct periodic reviews of storage volumes versus permissible volumes stored at sites.
- Assist and support sites by reviewing current baseline risk assessments to identify potential hazards/aspects associated with the storage and handling of chemicals. Implement control measures to mitigate risks and prevent accidents or spills.
- Participate in all chemical-related workplace incident investigations to offer additional support/guidance. Share the learnings with business as best practice
- Review the site's training/competency records to ensure an appropriate level of training has been conducted for First Aiders, Firefighters, and Spill Responders.
- Prepare annual safety reports for all MHI sites
- Maintain appropriate MHI registration for all applicable DG Sites
- Maintain a permit/license register fo all sites storing DG and assist sites in ensuring they are always compliant

Job Purpose
- Ensure timeous and accurate prime and supplementary invoices completed throughout the month and especially at month end. Accuracy is most important, which will ensure that all costs have been recovered correctly. Ensure all supporting docs are on edocs, all charges captured are in accordance to supporting docs. Ensure clients costings are accurate. Perform adoc activites that clients may require as specified in responsibilities below. Ability to work under pressure and due to volumes particularly at month end, you may be required to work additional hours to ensure all invoicing is complete.
