Applications should be in possession of Grade 12 certificate and a minimum of a National Diploma in Building Management / Construction Management / Project Management, Property / Real Estate Management (NQF level 6).
A minimum of 3 years experience as a Chief Artisan in hospital facilities and / or at least three (3) years FMU supervisory experience at salary level 7 or 8 / junior management level. A valid driver`s license.
All shortlisted candidates shall undertake a pre-entry practical exercise as part of the assessment method to determine the candidates suitability based on the post`s technical and generic requirements.Occupational Health and Safety Act and other Building Regulations. Generally built environment, including mechanical , electrical;, and Water Services Act. National Environmental Management Act (PFMA).

Duties :
Management the roll-out of the maintenance management system and full capacitation of the Hospital maintenance. Monitor the updating of the maintenance management system in terms of approved plans.
Manage the provision of electrical equipment and plant services. Manage the provision of mechanical and plant services. Manage the provision of building maintenance services. Manage the operation of boilers. Manage the provision of electrical, technical and building inspectorate services.
Monitor implementation of technical repairs. Oversee the provision of suppliers and spares. Manage the customization of specifications. Manage themonitoring of performance of suppliers and contractors.
Intervene if the performance of suppliers and contractors are below standard. Recommend payments of suppliers and contractors for completed work. Liase with suppliers and contractors for work in progress. Provide inputs to specifications for new repairs. Oversee effective implementation of new installations.
Validate that users are trained on the use new equipment. Validate that the maintenance management system has been updated. Monitor compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act(OHS) in the District and Facility Maintenance Hubs. Prepare and present management reports for FMU maintenance. Sign performance agreements for subordinates based on approved Job descriptions, Strategic and Annual Performance plans of the Department.
Manage subordinates and maintain discipline. Manage training and development of subordinated according to agreed training interventions. Develop and update the service delivery and work plan for subordinates.
Manage budget in the unit in compliance with the Public Finance Management Act and the Treasury Regulations. Limit underspending or overspending by the unit in terms of the departmental budget allocations. Perform any other duties as delagated by the supervisor.
