Assistant Director: Information Technology (IT Support)
Assist in the management of ICT operations in QCTO.
Key functions:
Assist with the development of policies, procedures and frameworks related to ICT operations.
Provide 1st and 2nd line server support and monitoring.
Monitoring technological developments in the field of ICT Security and advising the ICT management.
Assessing ICT security threats and the effectiveness of implemented security measures.
Perform ongoing monitoring of information systems and assess threats and risks to information security.
Assist in managing, monitoring and controlling of ICT operational hardware and software purchasing, licensing and enhancements.
Assist in managing, monitoring and the control of information sharing and knowledge management portals, platforms and systems.
Assist in managing, monitoring and controlling the security of data, network access and backup systems.
Assist in conducting system audits on technologies implemented.
Assist in managing, monitoring and control of fault-finding to ensure that ICT operational problems are swiftly identified and resolved.
Assist in managing, monitoring and control of downloading and installation of software, including updates.
Assist in managing, monitoring and control of user connectivity to networks.
Assist in managing, monitoring and control that users can use hardware and software by sourcing training and/or self-help instructions.
Assist in managing, monitoring and control of ICT risk management.
Assist in managing, monitoring and control of ICT operational related business continuity plan, including disaster recovery plan.
Conduct regular follow-up meetings with management to determine the effectiveness of ICT operations.
Resolve escalated requests by junior technicians.
Attend training in ICT Security where required
Job Requirements
A recognised three (3) year Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology at NQF level 7 registered with the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).
Certification in Microsoft ® Server2016 or later
Experience in hypervisor installation, configuration and management (VMware or Hyper-V)
6 years' collective experience, of which 2 years must be at supervisory level.
Experience in the areas of ICT operations and Valid driver’s license
Must have knowledge of Public Service, QCTO mandates and strategies, education system and pedagogy, Post school education framework, relevant Government wide legislation e.g. National Qualifications Framework Act, Skills Development Act and National Skills Development Strategy III.
Must have skills in problem solving and analysis, communication, stakeholder engagement, data management, Technology-related change management, Software performance, Database performance, Network design.
