Assistant Director: Medical Orthotist And Prosthetist
Package : R 664. 410.00 PER ANNUM (PLUS BENEFITS).
Requirements :
An appropriate qualification that allows for registration with the HPCSA as Medical Orthotist & Prosthetist. Registration with HPCSA as an independent practitioner and current registration for 2026/2027
A minimum of 3 years’ appropriate experience as a Chief Medical Orthotist & Prosthetist. Knowledge requirements: Must have knowledge of current health and public service legislation, regulations, and policies. Knowledge in the application of clinical Medical Orthotics & Prosthetics (MOPS) theory, practices, and ethics.
Competency requirements: Communication skills, report writing skills, decision-making skills, planning & organizational skills, expert clinical Medical Orthotics & Prosthetic skills, research skills, analytical skills, computer literacy &, presentation skills, human resource & financial management skills as well as network and liaison skills. A relevant post-graduate qualification will be an added advantage.
Duties :
Operational management, development, coordination, monitoring and reporting of quality and sustainable MOPS services in the institution and in the cluster. Coordinate the activities of satellite/outreach services. Provide expert clinical services. Integrate comprehensive MOPS services within the hospital service package of care. Promote and support good clinical governance through the development and maintenance of systems and processes for the provision of quality MOPS services.
Coordinating all activities in the department, daily administrative duties and effective implementation of work procedures as required by the Department of Health. Utilize health information technology and other health information systems to enhance physiotherapy service delivery.
Participate and/or make recommendations in the development of policies, guidelines, protocols and SOP’s for/relating to MOPS at an institutional, cluster and provincial level. Implement, monitor and review MOPS guidelines, protocols and Sop’s. Achieve a state of readiness for NHI. Promote and assist in relevant ongoing and new research and capacity building.
Coordinate student training. Support Human resource management and development including staff recruitment and retention, as well as performance management and development of staff.
Supervise, mentor and manage the performance of subordinates. Compile and manage budgets, control cash flows, institute risk management and administer procurement processes in accordance with recognised financial practices to support and achieve organisational objectives. Ensure effective management of assets, procurement and maintenance.
Manage relationship with all relevant stakeholders e.g. universities, NGO’s, Rehabilitation facilities, out referral institutions, schools, etc.
