    Assistant Manager, Engineering

    Minimum Requirements

    • B Tech or BEng in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Essential/Minimum)
    • Government Certificate of Competence in Engineering (Essential/Minimum)
    • Management Development Programme completion (Essential/Minimum)
    • A minimum of 8 years relevant experience in plant, production, operational, maintenance, project management, design, and development (Essential/Minimum)
    • Proficiency in asset management and use of Physical Asset Management and Reliability Centered Management principles
    • Thorough understanding of compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act, Mine Health and Safety Act, and other relevant standards and policies
    • Experience in leading continuous improvement initiatives and applying Theory of Constraints principles
    • Proven experience in customer and client relationship management within an engineering context
    • Effective people management skills with the ability to develop and maintain individual development plans
    • Strong financial management skills, including preparing and controlling budgets
    • Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
    • Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Direct and coordinate operational aspects of projects, ensuring they align with business strategies and goals.
    • Manage asset life cycles and optimise asset performance through Physical Asset Management and Reliability Centered Management principles.
    • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Mine Health and Safety Act, and company SHE policies.
    • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, applying Theory of Constraints principles to enhance process capabilities and reduce costs.
    • Provide technical and operational support to project and operational teams, ensuring high standards are maintained.
    • Prepare and control the section's annual budget, monitor expenditures, and drive cost-effective practices.
    • Promote teamwork, support staff development, and manage performance through individual development plans.
    • Evaluate and manage capital projects, ensuring completion within specified timeframes and budgets with minimal risk.
    • Coordinate commissioning and quality assurance processes, providing technical inputs for designs and reviews.
    • Foster a culture of safety, ensuring a healthy environment and safe operational practices are maintained.
