Minimum Requirements

• B Tech or BEng in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Essential/Minimum)
• Government Certificate of Competency: Engineering (Essential/Minimum)
• Management Development Programme (Essential/Minimum)
• 8 years of relevant experience in plant operations, project management and engineering design (Essential/Minimum)
• Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum)(To be conducted by Exxaro)
• Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum)(To be conducted by Exxaro)
• Compliance with MHS Act Regulation 2.13.3.1 (AME) (Essential/Minimum)
• Registration with Engineering Council of SA as PrEng (Recommended/Desirable)
• In-depth knowledge of asset management principles, including PAM and RCM
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in managing capital projects

Duties & Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate the operational aspects of engineering projects to ensure alignment with Life of Mine plans and organisational goals.
• Ensure availability and optimisation of assets through effective asset management and application of PAM and RCM principles.
• Maintain compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and company-specific SHE policies to mitigate risks and ensure statutory compliance.
• Initiate and implement continuous improvement initiatives using TOC principles to optimise process capability and reduce costs.
• Provide expert technical and operational support to project and operational teams, managing relationships with internal stakeholders.
• Prepare and control the annual budget, monitoring operational expenditure and cash flow to ensure financial efficiency.
• Oversee people management by fostering teamwork, managing performance, and developing subordinates to meet operational targets.
• Manage capital projects, minimising risk while ensuring they meet budgetary and timeframe requirements.
• Coordinate commissioning, quality assurance processes, and performance criteria testing for project systems and processes.
• Promote a safe and healthy work environment, ensuring adherence to all applicable SHE policies and fostering a safety-focused culture.
