Senior/National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) certificate. Bachelor of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology or Bachelor of Speech Therapy) or appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South African (HPCSA) as an Independent Practice Audiologist.
Proof of registration with HPCSA as an Independent Practice Speech Therapist, Proof of current registration with the HPCSA from 01 April 2026 to 31 March 2027. Knowledge and skill in adult and paediatric hearing screening, diagnostic hearing assessments, hearing aid fittings, vestibular, electrophysiology and site of lesion assessments.
Cochlear implants certification will be an added advantage.
Audiologist Grade 1: No experience required after registration with HPCSA in the relevant profession in respect of RSA qualified employees who performed community service, as required in South Africa.
Audiologist Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years of appropriate recognizable experience after registration with HPCSA in the relevant profession in respect of RSA qualified employees who perform community service, as required in South Africa.
Audiologist Grade 3: A Minimum of 20 years of recognizable experience after registration as a Speech Therapist with HPCSA in the relevant profession in respect of RSA qualified employees who perform community service, as required in South Africa.
Duties :
To conduct adult and pediatric audiological procedures in accordance with best practice guidelines and engage in clinical research. To ensure that clinical resources are maintained according to protocols, which include biological checks and reporting of faults. To work within a multidisciplinary team within professional boundaries. To supervise community therapists and students.
To comply with Performance Management processes. To participate in departmental team building and projects. To adhere to infection control procedures and assist with maintaining accreditation requirements. To assess, manage and treat patients with cochlear implants as per governing body guidelines.
