    Audiologist / Speech & Audiology Grade 1 (1 Post)

    Requirements :

    • MBChB or equivalent medical qualification. MMed Surgery or equivalent. FCS or equivalent. Proof of current registration with the HPCSA as a Specialist Surgeon.
    • A minimum of 7 (seven) years post registration as a specialist surgeon. Experience in direct clinical services, clinical governance, multidisciplinary collaboration, and leadership roles.
    • Teaching and supervision experience. Supervision of at least two (2) MMED to completion, at least (5) five publications in accredited peer reviewed journals will be added advantage. Leadership qualities, high emotional quotient, good communication both verbal and written.

    Duties :

    • Lead and manage the Department of Surgery, ensuring high standards of clinical care and patient safety in collaboration with Management and Heads of other Departments. Ensure timeous response to complaints. Involvement in outreach program. Overall leadership of the Treatment Time Guarantee for surgical services at HJTH and its cluster. Lead decentralization and down-referral of appropriate cases.
    • Oversee and participate in specialized clinical service delivery. Support and strengthen the academic mission through undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, training, supervision, and curriculum development. Drive research output, postgraduate completion rates, and departmental scholarly productivity including publications in peer reviewed journals.
    • Ensure compliance with HPCSA training requirements, institutional policies, and provincial health regulations. Lead departmental strategic planning, operational plans, allocation of duties, quality improvement initiatives and performance monitoring.
    • Manage departmental budget, human resources, and operational efficiency including Commuted Overtime and RWOPS. Implementation of personal development of plans for staff and succession planning.
    • Attendance of academic meetings and overseeing academic programs and activities at HJTH. Represent the department in HJTH, academic department, School of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of the Witwatersrand, provincial and national clinical committees. The successful incumbent will be required to perform commuted overtime in the Department of Surgery.
