JOB DESCRIPTION

The position required is for an Automation Commissioning Engineer, that can deal with all aspects of commissiong relating to Automation/Control/Instrumentation systems in the Food and Pharmaceutical Processing Industry.
The company is involved with all types of automation and process control systems and solutions:

1. Pharmaceutical Processing Plants
2. Food Processing Plants
3. HVAC Systems
4. Small Power and Lighting

The company is based in Cape Town, but all employees can expect to be involved in various projects throughout South Africa. Therefore, the candidate must be prepared to travel for temporary timeframes in the project’s life cycle.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Construction and Commissioning

• Manage the construction phase of the project relating to the automation and electrical scope of work.
• Perform various site visits to ensure progress and quality is maintained.
• Preparation of commissioning schedules and supervision/assistance in commissioning procedure
• Assist with onsite commissioning of projects.
• Ensuring compliance to OHS act and other statutes and regulations.

Validation

• Preparation of Validation Protocols (RA, IA, IQ, OQ, FAT etc) and supervision/assistance in execution of the protocols.

• Meticulous attention to detail is essential.
• You manage your time well and have the ability to work independently.
• Good communicator via written and verbal communication skills (English).
• You have the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• BSc / BTech in Mechatronics, Elec-Mech, Electronic or Electrical Engineering or Similar
• Graduate or 2 – 4 years of experience in industries relating to commissioning of process and HVAC control systems

Years’ Experience
Autocad

• Good; has the ability to create and edit dwg’s.
• 1 – 2 years

MS Word

• Good; understands document formatting with MS word Styles, creating and inserting tables and graphs and generating easy to read documents.
• 2 – 4 years

MS Excel

• Good; understands excel formula creation and excel features such as conditional formatting, filtering, freeze pane etc. Has the ability to generate documents from scratch that is setup to be a printable document.
• 2 – 4 years

MS Outlook

• Good; has the ability to communicate professionally via email. Needs to be able to manage email and track responses effectively using outlook.
• 2 – 4 years

MS Projects

• Fair; has the ability to understand, open and read a Gantt Charts. Can generate and edit Gantt Charts using MS Projects features.
• 1 – 2 years

Multi-meter

• Understand and have experience with the operation and use of multi-meter type tool for trouble shooting and repair
• 2 – 4 years

Tool Proficiency

• Ability to use various hand tools for trouble shooting and repair

H&S

• Basic understanding of H&S application in the work place and on site including, H&S file contents and documents as per the relevant regs
• 2 – 4 years

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• You are prepared to travel and work away from home.
• A valid driver’s license.
• A valid passport.
